The Tragically Hip at the Junos

The Tragically Hip, often just referred to as The Hip, was started in 1983 by Gord Downie.

The Hip’s members included Rob Baker, Johnny Fay, Gord Sinclair, Paul Langlois, and Gordon Downie. The band started in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario.

In 1987 they signed a long-term record deal with MCA and released their debut album.

Three years later, in 1990 the band won their first Juno award. In the following years, they would win more than a dozen Junos.

The Tragically Hip was inducted to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

The Tragically Hip retired in 2017 following Gord’s death.

Over their 32-year career, The Tragically Hip produced 14 albums and sold millions of records.
